Summary of Event:

Title: Aging with Disability - Understanding Lifelong and Acquired Conditions

Adults with lifelong and acquired disabilities often experience aging patterns that differ significantly from the general population, resulting in early functional decline, and complex medical needs. This session will
provide an understanding these unique aging trajectories as well as recognizing early red flags that signal emerging challenges in mobility, cognition, self-care, behavior, and environmental safety. Through
evidence-informed guidance, case-based examples, and practical strategies, participants will learn how to identify functional changes, and initiate timely interventions. Emphasis is placed on promoting independence, preventing avoidable crises, and supporting safe and successful aging despite disability.
