Summary of Event: Title: Validation & Boundary Setting for an Individual with Narcissism and Dementia Emily S. Gavin, MS, OTR/L will present a case for discussion in which she coached family, an RN care team, and employees of an individual with comorbid Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Persecutory Delusional Disorder, and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. The care plan designed required a blending of communication best practices designed for different diagnoses. Learning Objectives Attendees Should Achieve: At the end of the session, participants will be able to: 1. Analyze real-life case study with outcomes data; illustrating complex, collaborative care plan development. 2. Recognize need for care that honors intersecting co-morbidities, and is client-centered, best practice, consistent, and harm-reducing.
Bio/Background of the Speakers: Emily S. Gavin, MS, OTR/L founded her solo private practice, PhillyCare Coaching LLC, in 2023. She provides education, support, and coaching for caregivers of people living with dementia. Her previous areas of clinical experience include skilled nursing, home health, and PACE environments.
