Dennis Aptaker has been a practicing occupational therapist since 2008. His primary area of practice has been adolescent mental health across the continuum of services. Denni s is currently a full-time faculty member of Quinnipiac University’s Depart ment of Occupational Therapy. Practicing in acute psychiatry and community -based mental health, Dennis has worked with many individuals to prevent an d recover from substance use disorders achieving a higher quality of life.< /p>
Pamela Mautte, Director of Alliance for Prevention & Wellnes s, a BH Care Program – Pamela Mautte has more than 18 years of experience i n the prevention field. She holds an MS degree in School Health Education, a BS degree in Public Health, and is a certified Prevention Specialist with Reciprocity (CPP-R), a Master Certified Health Educator Specialist (MCHES) , a Certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer, a Certified (Training for In tervention Procedures) – TIPS Trainer, and an adjunct faculty member at Qui nnipiac University.

This w orkshop is designed for occupational therapy practitioners to gain apprecia tion and understanding of the public health crisis surrounding the opioid e pidemic. Furthermore, participants will be oriented to the potential for mi suse, abuse and overdose of opioids as related to occupational therapy prac tice. Participants will be able to identify signs and symptoms of an opioid related overdose and learn how to administer nasal Narcan as a life saving measure. Participants will have the option to receive a Narcan kit; a phar macist will be onsite to process insurance for any eligible copays related to receiving the medication. Options are available for those with higher co pays or if Narcan is not covered to receive kits as well.
