Presenter:  Michele Stillman OTD, OTR/L, RN

Bio/Background of the Speaker: I am a 1995 graduate of Quinnipiac College’s Occupational therapy program. For the past 25 plus years, I have been an occupational therapist in SNF’s, short-term rehabilitation, school-based practice, home health care, administration, mental health and academia. I am currently the Occupational Therapy Supervisor at Capitol Region Mental Health Center- Young Adult services and an Adjunct Professor in Goodwin’s University’s OTA program. I recently graduated from American International College, earning my Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate. I am also a registered professional nurse, licensed foster parent, children’s ministry director and mom of four incredible boys. 

 

Learning Objectives Attendees Should Achieve:

1. Participants will gain greater familiarity with AOTA’s School Mental Health Toolkit section on anxiety.

2. Participants will gain greater insight into identifying and providing intervention to students who experience anxiety. 


Summary of Event: 

This hour will focus on reviewing the AOTA School Mental Health Toolkit, specifically the section that addresses anxiety. Participants will be encouraged to share experiences with identifying anxiety in students and supporting students’ management of anxiety symptoms and function with occupational therapy intervention.
