Bio/Background of the Speakers:

ConnOTA community of practice members are OT practitioners who are actively working in home care, who have worked in home care, or are seeking to work in home care.  Members bring their expertise and skillset as well as questions and a strong desire to use social learning theory to learn, share, and pool knowledge.

Learning Objectives Attendees Should Achieve:

This hour-long presentation and discussion will allow participants to:

1. Explain the origin, development, and occupational therapy’s role in the Cognitive Disabilities Model (CDM)

2. Compare and contrast the differences between the levels of the Allen Cognitive Scale and recognize the functional capabilities of each level.

3. Analyze the core concepts of the CDM model. 

Summary of Event: 

Susan M. Higgins is an Allen expert and will lead the community of practice in a discussion and dissemination of information regarding the Cognitive Disabilities Model which can be used in any setting. She has had the opportunity to work closely with Claudia Allen and we are fortunate to have her share her expertise.
