Bio/Background of the Speakers:

ConnOTA community of practice members are OT practitioners who are actively working in home care, who have worked in home care, or are seeking to work in home care.  Members bring their expertise and skillset as well as questions and a strong desire to use social learning theory to learn, share, and pool knowledge.

This hour-long presentation and discussion will allow participants to:
1. Discuss the DEI video:

2. Recognize the 5 tenets of belonging and how we can apply them to our practice, workplace, and lives.
3. Pool…those resources and knowledge and make them easily available to other CoP members.

Summary of Event: 

DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion). A statement was made during a panel presentation at the national
conference in April which sparked hurt and heated discussions regarding AOTA and DEI. The session was not
recorded and there was an outcry after the program as well as ongoing comments in OT Comun, Facebook, and
Instagram. It's worthy of discussion and how it affects our practice, our lives, and how we can move forward.
