Judi Sheehan, a Past President of ConnOTA; Joyce Rioux, the Current Co-chair of ConnOTA Government Affairs; and Elaine Adams, a Past Chair of ConnOTA Government Affairs has worked alongside a team of talented and dedicated colleagues to put forth a draft proposal for revising Connecticut’s OT Practice Act.

Participants will

1. Understand the process and rationale for revising the Connecticut OT Practice Act, that is, the legislative document that establishes and governs the practice of occupational therapy in Connecticut.

2. Assess the proposed revisions for clarity and relevance to occupational therapy practice in Connecticut.

Summary of Event:

The ConnOTA OT Scope of Practice committee will review the timeline of work completed to date and proposed revisions for the Connecticut OT Practice Act. Specific focus will center on the definition of the practice of occupational therapy. Input will be sought from participants on clarity and relevance to occupational therapy practice in Connecticut to ensure unintentional barriers are not created due to proposed language and wording. Opportunities will be provided for suggested edits.
